I always thought that the term for teacher was professeur. Admittedly my French is pretty rusty but doesn't the verb "maitriser" mean to control or to master? How does this translate for a maitre d' at a hotel? I met a girl. :) Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Meeting a girl would be nice, but actually, I discovered a very spiritual, vegetarian community that is part of El Panchan, in a jungle setting, near the ruins in Palenque that I fell in love with, and I was asked to stay and live there by the owners. When I mentioned my FMA background, I was asked to give an Escrima workshop. The first day, there were 4 people there. The second day, 8 people showed up. I have also received some e-mails from a few martial arts schools around Mexico that have asked me to give seminars at their schools. The area is fantasic, and I recommend anyone coming this way to check out Rakshita´s. Hasta luego! We train together and about 2 years ago she sprained her wrist trying to punch me in the chest during a empty hand exercise. LOL (that's what she gets for trying to make it hurt me) But since everytime she really works sticks with that hand it re-injures on her. So if anyone has advise on that as well I would really appreciate it. A good physiotherapist can help you out a lot here. Sometimes these injuries just take time; a lot of time. > Any thoughts on approx time to heal. I sprained my ankle in October and I was away from Kali for 8 weeks. Even now my flexibility is not back, I still feel pain in certain movements, and there is some joint swelling. A friend of mine did his ankle in over a year ago, and he still needs a brace. So it can take some real time. Things that helped me for my ankle: Use it - move it as much as you can, move it constantly. Ice it - I would wrap my ankle in ice daily; there was a *lot* of swelling. Therapy - a good physio. can help you, but YMMV. Medical attention - you need to know if this is a sprain, a break, or if you've done something more than stretch your connective tissue. Take time - reinjury will just make things take a lot longer, so use your wrist, but don't go nuts on it. Work the wrist slowly back into shape...sore is ok pain is bad with wrists and ankles... I have one of those jobs where I am at the computer all day and when I training at night or in hte morning my "mouse" hand typically hurts. I remedied this by switching to the left hand and doing more range of motion skills with the wrists to strengthen them. Also swiched to Linux and now I am not mouse dependant...I can use just the keyboard to do everything I used to. Good luck....
