I teach what is called "modern street boxing" which really is a Jeet Kune Do Concept approach but the term for better understanding is refered to as Modern Street Boxing, i've really come to find out that boxing is a very essential emtpy hand method... Anyone else use this type of training? thanks >End of Eskrima Digest > -------------------------------- Cory Ballinger 3rd Dan: Karate-Do Instructor: Kailat-Street Boxing www.INmartialartsacademy.com --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2005 19:31:28 -0600 From: WoodyTX To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Suggestions on attracting judges for tournaments Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net My bad; it's a stick and knife fighting tournament in Austin, TX. We try to run two a year. www.edgefighting.com Basically, it's padded weapons, headgear, and shin/instep guards. We run "bladed" (weapon only) and "submission" (no kicks to the head or below the knee, no strikes to the groin) divisions for both stick and knife. We're also starting fights from the Hubud and Tussling (knife tie-up) positions, and running an "open weapons" division, so stick and shield, stick and dagger, or staff practicioners can compete. Yes, it's a lot of fun, and if I didn't have a blown cervical disk, I'd be competing instead of judging. I believe we do similar drills, but I don't have any boxing background. WoodyTX On Mon, 21 Feb 2005 20:29:10 -0500 (EST), Cory L. There are a total of 7 divisions in all Karen Pence I didn't see anything in your earlier post as to what kind of tournament you are holding but that information might help others with recommendations.
