Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Kali or Kalis? I am new to the FMA world. I have read articles on the art from various sources, namely the internet and books, butmore recently the book “The secrets of Kalis Ilustrisimo” because I am very much interested in this brance of the FMA which is based on the Sword. What I have noticed more recently in the magazines is according to Yuli Romo Kali means “empty hands” and Kalis is the name of a blade. My question is WHY after writing a book on the art, by the head of the system(Tony Diego) and his training partner Christopher Ricketts) people, namely Yuli romo - using Romo Clan Ilustrisimo and Gay Galang using deviations such as and Bakbakan Kali (Ilistrisimo)? Does this mean that they are teaching mixed FMA which incorporate some aspects of the original Ilustrisimo art, or simply that they are being disrespectful to the head of the system by not towing the line? I would like to hear from more experienced FMA practitioners...what do you feel about this? Yours in the martial arts… Oliver. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
