Yes according to Master Yuli, the name Olistrisimo is common in the central Philippines and is a distortion of Olisi and Ilustrisimo. The name may well be used by family members, but I would need to confirm that. Best regards Peter --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "Peter Lewis" To: Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2005 13:37:29 -0000 Subject: [Eskrima] Original five pillars of the Ilustrisimo system Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hi John Concerning the five pillars, the original group were Tony Diego, Yuli Romo, Christopher Ricketts, Rey Galang and Edgar Sulite. Obviously, since the passing of Punong Guro Edgar, only four of the orginial five pillars remain. Please extend my warm regards to Master Yuli when you next meet for training. With all do respect to ALL the senior disciples of the late Tatang Ilustrisimo, the 5 known "pilars" are: Tony Diego, Yuli Romo, Christopher Ricketts, Rey Galang and Edgar Sulite. Again, this is not to discredit Mang Romy or anyone else for that matter but simply for clarification. It does not necessarily denote superiority of knowledge, skill etc. Although some may consider this an insignificant point, there was logic to naming these gentlemen within KI's history. John G. Although the remarks had been recorded in a magazine interview with Tatang during the 1980's, out of respect for the art and for Master Tony Diego and with permission of the author, I had the testimony changed to the current format! Why are you trying to hide yourself by claiming to be a beginner to FMA? Clearly you are more than you claim, but you do not seem to realise that it is comments like these that are bringing the respected art of Tatang into the light of bad publicity. I am not sure why you are hiding your lineage, but it is most certainly negative and disrespectful to the senior masters of the Ilustrisimo system. I think it was one/some of Tatang's senior relatives that used that form for the family name. ???
