In regards to the 5 Pillars of Kali Ilustrisimo, I believe a mistake has been made. From what I know, the five pillars of Kali Ilustrisimo were Antonio Diego, Yuli Romo, Edgar Sulite, Christopher Ricketts and Rey Galang. This is the first time I have ever heard of Mang Romy Macapagal being named among the 5 pillars of KI. In the 1980s, it was Master Rey Galang who organized a remarkable series of seminars in Australia which featured the senior students of GM Ilustrisimo for the first time out of the Philippines. Due to his dedicated effort and work, Antonio Diego, Edgar Sulite and Christopher Ricketts visited Australia to introduce people to KI. This remarkable tour is still talked about by those who were fortunate to attend such an historic occasion and by those who wished they were around to have attended. These abovementioned men have all contributed greatly to the teaching and promotion of kali ilustrisimo out of respect for their teacher. It is through them and their efforts our generation and future generations can learn the remarkable art of Grand Maestro Antonio 'Tatang' Ilustrisimo. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It exists but I have literally thousands of magazines in storage at a nearby storeage facility. Obviously Oliver is trying to stir up some politics. The truth is the truth and no matter how these people attempt to change it or alter it to suit their agendas, IT REMAINS THE TRUTH. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Again, this is not to discredit Mang Romy or anyone else for that matter but simply for clarification. It does not necessarily denote superiority of knowledge, skill etc. Although some may consider this an insignificant point, there was logic to naming these gentlemen within KI's history." Hi John, I am not a KI practitioner in any shape or form but purely out of interest, are you able explain where this confusion stems from with regards to the "5 pillars"? If naming these individuals does not necessarily denote superiority of knowledge, skill etc, what does it denote? What was the logic in naming these individuals over others? Again, let me point out that I have no axes to grind and do not represent anyone in KI - in fact, anyone at all! I am just curious. But when I was learning from Tatang this topic was discussed by Master Sioc. The aswer of Tatang was he preferred Kalis Ilustrisimo or Olistrisimo as mentioned in the book of PG Edgar Sulite. This just what I heard firsthand. Like I said I am no expert of this system. Just my two cents, Alex --__--__-- Message: 5 From: "Alex Ercia" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2005 12:31:31 -0800 Subject: [Eskrima] RE: What does Puno mean? Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hi Jared! Punong comes from the word the root word Pinuno-meaning leader. So Puno for short. Punong to describe a person or used in conjunction to another word or person. So usually you will read Punong Guro short for Pinunong Guro or in English Head teacher. Also means the Head of a group of Teachers. I hope this helps.
