As far as Cebu goes you might ask around at the markets around there (I got some good pairs of kamagong at some of the small craft markets) but you should try and locate Doce Pares Headquarters, as it is in Cebu. I'm sure there are other styles but I know for a fact Doce Pares is there and you should try and ask them. >From: mainlma@aol.com >Date: Wed Mar 23 22:20:28 CST 2005 >To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net >Subject: [Eskrima] A place to buy Knves sticks, swords etc. > I have been in Cebu for almost a week and no one seems to know where I can get sticks, knives or swords. It would be a shame to leave here and not briong anything home. I did find a coulble balisong, but they were of very poor quality, nothing that I would like to have. Does any one know of a place where I can find some toys? Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hello, Tuhon Gaje told me about a tournament he was involved with in Maryland at the beginning of April (possibly April2?) . I have been unable to find any other information about it. Has anyone on this list heard of it? I mean, "Officer, this guy grabbed my wife's butt and technically that is assault. So I magically targeted a few nerve centers with this knife that I carry in my pocket using it closed with metal spikes extending for impact weapons. I thought my life was threatened. This guy was big and strong and bald, and covered with bulldog tattoos. He threw me down into a headlock. I remain composed, open my Gunteen, use a modular training system, and biomechanically cut him. All this instead of dialing 911 with my self phone to report an incident of assault and in the meantime look for witnesses and get a good ID of the suspect." "The officer informed me that I was actually the attacker, my blade was over legal length, and I had chosen a lethal means of attack vs a simple assault instead of calling a LEO. Now I am in prison with a bigger, balder, stronger, more tattooed, better at jiujitsu butt grabber. He is however, not grabbing my wife's butt, ..he is well, ....you know. My wife's visitation day is today, but she is missing it, since Raul, the pool boy, is doing physical therapy on my wife's low back." Moral,.. be careful carrying around KillerKommandoKnives. You may end up in a small cell and unhappy. Tom Furman --Those years on the Animal List beat some sense into me about knives, "knife fighting, the law, and other things. Not the flashy ones though. Just some rattan sticks and some hardwood ones. It is supposed to be real cheap there, but in case you're a foreigner, you might be taken advantage of though. I've seen some real cheap knives in Riverbanks Mall in Marikina City in a very small stall. I found a cool baton, but when you twist and pull at both ends, it's a disguise for two long blades! Kinda cool! Hmm... maybe I shoud get one of those. Or you can go to Batangas coz they're known here for fan knives. If you're in Manila, give me a buzz. mainlma@aol.com wrote: I have been in Cebu for almost a week and no one seems to know where I can get sticks, knives or swords. Definately try to contact the Doce Pares headquarters while you are in Cebu. GM Canete always manages to bring a few pairs of sticks when he comes to visit the states and these are always very high quality. ----- Original Message ----- From: "res7bpwu@verizon.net" To: Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2005 2:05 PM Subject: Re: [Eskrima] A place to buy Knves sticks, swords etc. > Balisongs are best found in Batangas, in Luzon. I will be going over stick and empty hand applications of Modern Arnis as well. This seminar is only $150 for the two days.  You should probably reserve a spot for yourself soon.  You can do this by contacting Greg Beeman at grbeeman@cssdnorthwest or call 509-994-2276.  Here is the link for the full flyer and info  http://www.cssdnorthwest.com/popup/2005portland.pdf We had a blast last year and we're going to have a better time this year.  See you there!
