I spent a year at Cologne University and trained with the Leung Ting people (of whom Emin Boztepe used to be a part). I attended a seminar with him once and he seemed like a really nice guy. The WT students virtually worshipped him at this point in time (1991). He had fought Cheung, beating him quite convincingly, and thereby "proved" that there branch was better. I was not present at the fight, but I have seen a cine film of it and a video conversion (with a hilarious commentary by Sam Kwok (I think) where every single flailing blow is "wing chun this or WC that". I have also talked to a number of WT people who were present. The background to the fight was that Cheung had challenged all Wing Chun people in an open letter to Combat Magazine (UK) claiming he was the true GM of WC and would prove it in a fight. Emin turned up to his Cologne seminar and after a little training stepped out of the line, held out the magazine article, said he was accepting the challenge and then counted to 10, before charging in. Cheung stepped into a standard WC posture, but Emin went straight through him and they went to the floor, where Emin mounted and then rained down blows, before getting up and telling Cheung to shut up, or he would come back and do it again. Since then Emin has been made unwelcome in the EWTO (Leung Ting's European group) and has struck out by himself. The video of the event might still be on www.bullshido.com In a nutshell, Boztepe closed, they both fell to the ground, after some low-grade grappling on both sides, Boztepe took mount. After a little more scuffling, Boztepe got up and left the seminar. Frankly, not a very impressive fight for either combatant. Just about every fight I hear about that involves "technical" arts (Wing Chun, Capoeira, etc) ends up turning into a ground-and-pound, or simple fistfight. I'm sure that says something, but I'm not sure what. I have all my songs uploaded at www.soundclick.com/bands/1/jasoncouture.htm. The songs are FREE ( 13 in all ). I'm basicaly looking for exposure. These songs are instrumental rock. You may find that they make good tunes to work-out to or use them for background music for a high energy class. Again, these songs are FREE no strings attatched and NO pressure to buy because, there is nothing to buy. I'm just looking for exposure for future gigs, CD sales or whatever. Don't forget to "vote" on the songs and if you have time leave me a message on my message board ( at the web site ). If you like the stuff spread my name around and let others know about the web site too. Thanx!! **JASON COUTURE** __________________________________ Yahoo!
