Because most everyone could do this technique. Also, an instance wherein the narrowness of the aisle works to your advantage. Again, think "gang-tackle," even if he attempts to leapfrog over you, or goes on the ground with you. Jay de Leon WoodyTX wrote: Actually, I read an interesting tactic in (of all things) Maxim magazine. If you're between the hijacker and the cockpit, lie down on your back in the aisle, feet towards him. Makes it kinda difficult to get to your vitals without a "boot to the head". Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net You bring up a good point there Woody. I'm not sure then I know the difference then between cardio work, calethenics, and aerobic. I guess my ultimate goal is to improve the muscles that I have (and perhaps get a little bit stronger) within the realm of combat conditioning. I'm not sure if cardio work or an aerobic workout would be better to improve that, or what exactly. Any ideas?? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! If your student has access to a car and doesn't mind travelling to northern Queens, NY (just off the Whitestone Bridge on I-95), I'm teaching a seminar with Wes Tasker on April 30, 9-5. According to my old instructor Guy Chase, he spent a little time with Karl Gotch so the exercises he is teaching/selling come from Karl Gotch's workout routine, which is phenomenal. I've been doing their workouts for about 8 months now. I'm probably not better at any one thing that I've been in the past (i.e. I'm not the strongest I've ever been, or the best at running), but my level of all-around fitness is far better than it's been in many years. That is, I can run (well, jog) 10 K one day, deadlift 300+ pounds the next, and PT like mad for an hour the next. Then take a day off and come back and do it all over again. Also, the workouts are very time-efficient. I usually finish in 30 minutes or less. And the exercises switch frequently enough that I can go 100% in every workout without picking up overuse injuries. Finally, I used to obsess over designing workout schedules and the like. It's nice to be able to put my butt in gear and my mind in neutral. I laughed at their program at first -- it seemed almost completely random. But it works. And I too feel a weird urge to tell people of the wonders of Crossfit. Must be subliminal messages or something. :-) ======================================================================= Tom Valesky -- tvalesky@patriot.net http://www.patriot.net/users/tvalesky --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
