I noticed from the topics that the Gathering this year has a participant from Italy. My daughter is going to Milan Italy in the fall for an internship and we know no one from that area. We are in the middle of trying to find reasonably priced, safe accommodations for her to live- September through November. She has had one course in Italian, but speaks very little Italian. On the off chance the"dog brother from Italy" is from Milan or knows someone in Milan or knows who we can contact in Milan, I would appreciate a reply. hudginsg@msn.com --__--__-- Message: 2 From: Ray To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net (Eskrima) Date: Mon, 30 May 2005 16:36:05 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Eskrima] Martial arts and terrorism Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Bradenton Herald (Bradenton, FL) May 30, 2005 Men facing terrorism charges Fla. doctor charged with terrorism LISA ORKIN EMMANUEL, Associated Press The FBI arrested a Florida doctor and New York martial arts expert on federal terrorism charges, saying they conspired to treat and train terrorists, federal prosecutors announced Sunday. Rafiq Abdus Sabir, a Boca Raton physician, and Tarik Shah, a self- described martial arts expert in New York, were both charged in Manhattan federal court with conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaida, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in the Southern District of New York. Both men are American citizens. Shah also known as Tarik Ibn Osman Shah, Tarik Jenkins and Abu Musab, prosecutors said. Sabir was arrested Saturday and was held at the Palm Beach County Jail. It was not immediately known where Shah was being held. Prosecutors said Sabir agreed to treat jihadists, or holy warriors in Saudi Arabia, while Shah agreed to train them in hand-to-hand combat. The one-count complaint details a sting operation from 2003 to 2005 in which the two men took an oath pledging their allegiance to al-Qaida. Sabir was to fly to Saudi Arabia on June 2, prosecutors said. Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in federal court on Tuesday, Shah in New York and Sabir in Florida. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2005: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
