But my question is more about how do you pen such an article. Getting an article printed is of course a good achievement but who is it aimed at? What is the readership of BB like? Do people tend to buy it out of habit or do they see an increase in sales when a certain subject matter is covered? In my trips across the pond i see BB widely available, but tend to buy more specialised titles unless there is a specific instructor highlighted. I dont really have time to read magazines much as you have to wade through so much bs to get to something that has been highly edited to make it more 'consume able'. Is this the same with others? I saw your question(Ithink it was you?) looking for a FMA school in PEI. If you still need that info, let me know and I will get you an address. A friend of mine was training there for a year or so while temp living on the Island. I can't recall the details off hand, but I can easily get them for you. No problem. I remember reading your post several years ago about making silat work in a full contact/full force environment. I was wondering what you were going ot come up with. Saw the clip on DBMA.com and really liked it. I haven't been doing much escrima lately, and seeing your clip makes me want to pick up the sticks again. I have wondered very much about how to develop a system for utilizing the latent potentiality of silat. Lately I've been doing a lot of judo, and there are moments when I see, for a split second, the FMA entries or counters. They work rather differently than they looked when doing them in static form, but nonetheless, they are there I think. It's hard, because things that worked well in one environment (weapons) sometimes do not work well in another (jacketed wrestling). I think the ongoing challenge for me is to always be aware of what I am doing, and not work in a reflexive way that is not suitable for the instant combative situation. Good luck. It is very inspiring to me that you are able to continue to work this material even as you get older. Do you have any advice regarding longevity in full contact style training? I'm 27 and I'm watching many of my contemporaries sidelined permanently because of injuries, so this longevity issue is coming more and more to the fore. I eagerly await the emergence of Kali-Tudo into the competitive mma arena. Again, my best wishes for your continued success. Tim Fong
