Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Wow, I feel somewhat like a goof. It makes sense, I remember sticks were used to disguise the practice of escrima since bladed weapons were forbidden. So I shouldn't modify metal into escrima sticks (kidding). Thanks for the insight. Rattan gives more on impact and absorb's some of the shock imparted to your wrists and hands. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I actually mailed him once asking about the possibility to purchase copies of the Lionheart tapes, I got the imression he was interested if somebody would want to republish them (or buy multiple copies) but not to sell individual copies (at least he didn't reply to my mails any more when I told him I was looking for copies for personal use). The web address of Lionchoke is http://www.lionchoke.com/ and the email sachettis@comcast.net. Also web address http://www.sachettis.com/ goes to the same page. - Marko > -----Original Message----- > From: ext Felipe Jocano [mailto:labsica64@yahoo.com] > Sent: 04 August, 2005 06:26 > To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Re: Kali Sticks--Lionheart rattan > > > Hi Bill, > > thanks for the info. " Hi Marko Don't know if it's really what you're after but my gym, The Bob Breen Academy sells weapons and the like, and it's considered by many to be the home of FMA in England. You can check merchandise out at www.fightgear.co.uk, or just come and train with us! As for Filipino museums, embarrassingly I don't know. There's a job for me. Canete was installed to the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame last July 22 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA and the following day, he was inducted as charter member of the Grandmasters Council of the U.S. Martial Arts Association. He was also installed to the Hall of Fame of the United States Master League last June 11 in Woodland Hills, California. It was already the eighth Hall of Fame award for Canete who is turning 86 on August 8 with seven of those Hall of Fame enshrinements made in the United States. Canete, the Doce Pares emeritus, is also a member of the Cebu City Hall of Fame for eskrima. Meanwhile, Canete will have three scheduled seminars this August in the East Coast of the United States. He will visit Europe and hold seminars there the whole month of September in Germany, Poland and England. He will then fly back to the US for another four seminars. In November, he is scheduled to visit Australia for two weeks to also hold seminars. --__--__-- Message: 5 From: "Bill Lowery" To: Date: Fri, 5 Aug 2005 19:59:37 +0100 Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Alan Sachetti Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hi Bot, Nope, I bought the three tapes series A Tribute to the Legends from Alan some years ago, and although I've tried Googling for him, no luck so far. There is an email address and phone number on Abanico (Dieter Knuttels) site. You could try that, again Google brings it up if you search for "Alan Sachetti". What's the address? I mean, I was planning to physically visit the shops on location, after all, I can order online from home as it is, but I'd like to see the merchandise by myself. About the museums, I was planning to go and check if British Museum has a Filipino department, I'm not sure (I've been there several times).
