Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Thanks everyone for the insight. I feel so *stoopid* for even bringing up if a boxer was a registerd weapon. Mostly because of Jeff Goldblum doesn't seem like a tough guy (The Fly, Jurassic Park). To the person who said I had one longer the other, it's not slightly longer it is almost a foot for thinking something like that was possible. So I take it Mel Gibson isn't a lethal weapon after all :^( >I am glad I am not the only person alive who >remembers this show. I wish I'd seen it. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I would like to put together a charity seminar to benefit hurricane victims. I think if we had several arts involved, it would draw a good sized group and raise a decent amount. Any instructors on this list in the NY-NJ-CT area who would like to get together and hold a charity seminar, please contact me. Yes, it's just you two. I swear to g-d, I have no idea what you're talking about! That show was *way* after my time. The fact that Goldblum doesn't seem particularly tough is part of what made the series so funny. He'd deliver that "I must warn you ..." line in that sort of hesitant, befuddled manner he has and, of course, no one ever took him seriously. I don't remember if the fight scenes were good or not or whether he even won the fights - though, as one of the heroes of the show, it's certain that he and Tenspeed got the bad guys by the end of the show. So while the guy with the 2.875" Spyderco Delica may still get charged with 'assault with a deadly weapon' if he lives, if he ends up dead, the guy with the gun will probably be charged with murder since the other guy wasn't carrying a 'lethal weapon' (even though in the hands of someone trained in Eskrima, it is *quite* the deadly weapon). IANAL (I Am Not A Lawyer), but I can't see it happening any other way if something like this ever transpired and made it to court (at least in WA). --jeff --__--__-- Message: 8 From: "Kit Lok" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: RE: [Eskrima] Re: Books Date: Sat, 03 Sep 2005 23:12:50 +0000 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Thanks Bill!
