Im yet to do it myself. On 12/21/05, Stick Grappler i borrowed my friend's thai version of ONG BAK when it first came out and watched it without subs and enjoyed it thoroughly despite not understanding what was said with no subtitles. -- Pat www.amag.org.uk --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "Billlowery" To: Date: Thu, 22 Dec 2005 11:37:50 -0000 Subject: [Eskrima] Re Lift situation Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Pat wrote: i agree. but its not as easy as simply handing over the wallet as being the approach to the knife situation as previously inferred. People making fake kamagong sticks most often do so by either painting or staining a cheaper wood. So the first thing to look for are obvious signs of painting, sometimes they will not paint the tips, or sometimes there will be obvious black paint bubbles and brush strokes, etc... The next quickest and easiest way to tell whether the stick is real or not would be by weight. Real kamagong sticks should be quite heavy, so if the sticks are real thick, but lighter than rattan then its not real. Now, if the fakers are using a hardwood, and did a good paint job try scraping the stick a bit near the the tip with a knife. If the color underneath where you scraped (doesnt have to be to deep, maybe not even a milimeter) is not the same as, then good chances it is fake. Most of it is set in Australia and is in English with Thai subtitles. If you enjoyed Ong Bak this film is a must-see, absolutely fantastic.
