It will probably depend upon how many people attend. Master Ron Saturno, will teach the nerve strikes of Cadina De Mano. Max had a kung Fu background blended into his Filipino Boxing SYSTEM, and Ron has went to of Max's Kung Fu contacts for answers to questions. Because of Master Sarmiento's contacts Master Ron Saturno recieved answers to those questions. This is great stuff! The Best To You! Train hard and have fun! Dennis P.S. Grandmaster Vincent Cabales, puts on a knife self defense course. Anyone interested can contact me or the GM. You found the incidents --- oh, two of them related to Animal -- quoted believable? Similar to some of experiences of your own? The author's advice? >From "Logic of Steel", page 166: "The blade is often unseen and unfelt" After the author relates an incident in which the defender managed to seriously wounded two of his attackers with multiple stabs but didn't alter the course of the altercation at all. Recently some here saught suggestions on what knife for his wife to carry. Wouldn't an impact weapon be better then if "the blade is often...unfelt"? Or one really has to be ready to go all they way, i.e., to kill, if one decides to use the knife? Can't find where it is now but I think the author says early in his book that he no longer carries a blade and prefer an impact weapon. Here should be a good piece of advice on running (page 213): "Run toward the nearest hospital, especially if you have been cut" Hmm...I don't recall Animal mentions that in his book "Street E&E". But it was long time ago I read that so... ;-) Dave --------------------------------- Yahoo! Photos – Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books. FWIW, to see Max's Kadena de Mano check out Suro Mike Inay's KdM videos. Mike was in Max's first ever Masters class and probably got more KdM than any one else. Max and Suro were tight. Suro even lived with Max for several months as a kid. He was like a dad/big-brother to Mike. Since Suro was also one of Angel's first students he and Max would work Serrada together, even before Serrada employed a short stick. KdM is great stuff. To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net The only place I've seen this type of stick is with Pak Vic de Thouars and he said they were developed in Soempat Silat. It does provide some interesting methods of leverage. For instance, if you put the apex of the concave portion of the bend against someone's neck in a choke then rotate the stick it applies the choke with automatically with even less effort than it takes with a straight stick. Also, in striking, that tip can get around obstacles to strike more optimal targets - so, for instance, when you strike to their hand, the tip can curve around their hand to strike their wrist area and a strike to the wrist area has a higher percentage chance of causing a disarm. And these are just a couple of the possibilities. There are others that I heard Pak Vic mention. Mike Casto I.M.P.A.C.T. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Prof Datuk Dr Muhammad Idiris Saleh said the martial art was fast losing its appeal and only three silat conventions were held since 1973. "We need to study why many Malay youths are no longer interested in silat and why such conventions are rarely held," he said after opening the third convention in USM yesterday. Prof Muhammad noted that other martial arts such as taekwondo and judo had gained international following. "There must be something extra in the other martial arts that have gained the attention of the international community. We must look into all aspects to make sure silat gains popularity," he added. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
