Are the old videos from Remy Presas, what I call the "Rocky, come here" tapes still on sale any where?  e.g. Remy's son perhaps. Rock...  any stories you can share about the making of that video series? Ray Terry rterry@idiom.com Ray or Rocky, Are you the guy who did those?  I was under the impression that the Clapps did them.  Who owns the masters, anyway?  I don't think the Presas kids have them otherwise they'd be selling them on their website.  Jeff is selling the 2001 batch on his website.  I know George Denson has a couple of DVDs he's selling (authorized by RP) on Bram's site as well. Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 6:52 AM To: 'eskrima@martialartsresource.net' Subject:FMA Training Programs Today As Instructor that teaches Kali style stick fighting as part of a training program, I have noticed a difference in how programs are set up. The master, I teach with is former military so his program is set differently than most. In traditional FMA the stick is a poor man's punching bag and an easily obtainable weapon so traditionally it is taught first then empty hands. In Japanese and Chinese martial arts empty hands are taught first with the belief that after you are proficient with empty hands then you can be taught weapons like stick, staff/spear and sword. I believe that based on the military model of training used by military and in Police and Fire Academies that both should be teaching empty hands and stick at the same time. In this day and age we are training people to be able to defend themselves on short notice. I feel that students should have homework and bring notebooks to capture what is being taught for future reference. These are my thoughts on FMA style fighting today. --__--__-- Message: 3 From: "CHRISTOPHER RAMS" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: RE: [Eskrima] RE: Remy Presas tapes (Rocky, come here) Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2006 11:39:37 -0500 Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Tim Hartman Sells the whole series Thanks for Your Help Sincerely Chris >From: "Danny Anderson" >Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net >To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net >Subject: [Eskrima] RE: Remy Presas tapes (Rocky, come here) >Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2006 15:42:11 +0000 > >Question... >Are the old videos from Remy Presas, what I call the "Rocky, come here" >tapes still on sale any where?  e.g. Remy's son perhaps. > >Rock...  any stories you can share about the making of that video series? > >Ray Terry >rterry@idiom.com > >Ray or Rocky, > >Are you the guy who did those?  I was under the impression that the >Clapps did them.  Who owns the masters, anyway?  I don't think the Presas >kids have them otherwise they'd be selling them on their website.  Jeff >is selling the 2001 batch on his website.  I know George Denson has a >couple of DVDs he's selling (authorized by RP) on Bram's site as well. > >Yours, >Dan Anderson >_______________________________________________ >Eskrima mailing list, 2300 members >Eskrima@martialartsresource.net >Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource >Standard disclaimers apply >http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima --__--__-- Message: 4 From: Ray Subject: Re: [Eskrima] RE: Remy Presas tapes (Rocky, come here) To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2006 12:44:33 -0800 (PST) Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Ray or Rocky, > > Are you the guy who did those?  I was under the impression that the > Clapps did them. I had no involvement with them, I've only viewed them a few times. As I recall it is a very young and thin Rocky that Remy uses as his sparring partner in those tapes. When Remy wants Rocky to come into the camera you hear, "Rocky, come here". Thus I always call them the Rocky-come-here tapes.
