Where did you learn knife fighting? I guess all of you were teached by your instructors. So you had a person, who was skilled and educated and passed his/her knowledge down to you - cause he/she saw the good in you, or? You were given knowledge and wisdom to handle it carefully - but to handle it and to take your part in the history of your art. That is why you were made an instructor, or do you disagree with me in that point. Thanx for the discussions. You have given me some good points to think about. **JASON COUTURE** __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! We all do things for different reasons but I think that everyone will agree that by studying the bladed arts your awareness level and perception of the world changes. The additonal attributes that you gain from this "hobby" such as a changed perception and different awareness are applied to the real world even if you are not a LEO, security person etc. The way you perceive the world is changed forever once you start studying the bladed arts. This changed perception and awareness is what makes arnisidors/eskrimadors/kalisidors different to many people. As part of their mandatory military training, for example, Philippine male college students must undergo combatives training (using the latest US Army field manual on the subject as reference). Their ages would normally range between 16 to 19. A substantial portion of the curriculum would cover identifying the vital targets in the human atanomy, fighting positions, rifle-with-bayonet training, as well as sentry elimination. Since this training is mandatory, it is the student who will have a burden of justifying why he should not be made to undergo the training and not the other way around. Normally, exemptions will only be granted to those who have physical disabilities and/or those prohibited by religious beliefs.
