I do not think that it is. It is a psychological issue of how each person functions under pressure and how to function better under pressure. Adrenal training is one training method. My original post danced around on many topics, while Animal clearly outlined and has obviously thought about this topic more than I have and has posted a nice outline to chew on. I like it. His concept of skill vs skill set makes sence. I would add a 5th point to his proposal and number 5 would be that an instructor can take the student only so far. At some point the student needs to think for himself. The most sudent who can reach his own personal highest potential will be the one who knows himself best. For those who have ever bought and sold stock for example and thought they understood risk then actually lost some money did you learn something about yourself? I bet those who have are smiling with me now. Carlton H. Having stayed in the Philippines for 8 1/2 months in 2004, I was fortunate to receive instruction in Kali Ilustrismo from Master Topher at his home. The quality of training and instruction was first class. Master Topher physical skills are very impressive, but just as importantly, the structure of his teaching, his instruction methods and skill at imparting knowledge to students is excellent. FMA enthusiasts would be advised to attend his seminars and see first hand authentic Kali Ilustrisimo taught as it should be taught: economical, practical and devoid of flowery movements. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Muay Boran? MMA? BJJ? Pah! Some time ago I asked my entire gym to surprise me with live weapons. When it finally happened I was unarmed and unprepared. In the shower actually. 40 or 50 of them (I lost count after about 25) poured into the changing rooms, amok. I disarmed the first two of their swords, and with one in either hand, dispatched the rest the rest of them. I decapitated most but due to the amount of blood and guts it was difficult to ascertain exactly what proportion. Whilst in the adrenal state, at no point did I stray from triangular footwork and Heaven 6 (Inosanto/Lacosta), although I don't think I came anywhere near to breaking the record of the two guys at Nanking. I obviously have some work to go yet. The only four survivors (they were off sick that day) are now primed to parachute onto the roof of my building at night, pipe knockout gas through the air vents, tie me and my girlfriend up in our sleep, steal all my valuables and then shoot us both in the head. I'm ready for them. I just hope it doesn't happen tonight, I've had a dreadful day at work and I could do with a relaxing evening. I spoke to Master Topher earlier today and I told him about your post. He says regards, thanks for the ringing endorsement, and he intends to keep his promise to make it to Australia one of these days. FYI, most of his seminars here in the States are sponsored, promoted or supported by his own group Bakbakan International (www.bakbakan.com) or my own group Tipunan International (www.tipunan.com) . I would also like to add that Master Topher can also be entertaining, and most of the time, you also get to see his actor son Bruce in action, and Bruce is getting to be a performer in his own right. Finally, our thanks to Ray Terry for allowing us to promote our events here at ED.
