And there was something I wanted to ask you. I have a friend that live in Missouri now but was originally from California. His name is Tim Padilla. He is the current accordian player with the "Lawrence Welk Orchestra." I played guitar with the orchestra for a while. I still do some tours with them. I was just curious if you knew of him since you both have the same last name. And you are the only two Padillas I have ever come across. I hope you are having a wonderful spring. Hi, Alex B. This is Alex F. You wrote: >>I wondered if anyone could tell me what's up with Master Julius Melegrito? I noticed that his Website is down and that theres a new US Kombatan HQ..<< I was the one who brought Julius into the organization. "Mea culpa." (smile) Julius was the one who stepped up to that position when I retired. He was chosen because of his NAPMA training. We felt he could take GM Ernesto Presas' organization, IPMAF, to the next level. Unfortunately, that may not have been his plan. The fact that he let IPMAF's website go down (for months on end) while he kept his own website up was particularly irksome to "GM" and the IPMAF general membership. There may have been other problems. Just read that news article about an FMA master (Julius) "yearning to go home, but can't" --Note that he didn't credit either his Korean Tang Soo Do master (who produced his school's "champions" and sold the school to Julius), or GM Ernesto Presas, from whom he learned FMA. That news article was a masterpiece in self-promotion. I laughed when I read it. Doing seminars all over Europe? That was GM! GM was the one that was invited; Julius just tagged along for the ride! Julius had only about 1 to 2 years FMA experience at that point! I know, because I was the one who brought him to Master Lito Concepcion's school in Vallejo, CA for his very first FMA lesson, then brought him to San Francisco to meet GM for his second lesson. Now, with no more than six years total FMA experience, he wants to "go home to teach the Philippine military and law enforcement?" Give me a break! There are many true masters and grandmasters, including his teacher, already in the Philippines who are much more qualified! He may have learned FMA (because GM is a darn good teacher); but he didn't learn "utang na loob". Sayang... I'm back as Secretary General (until I can find another Julius (smile)), but I'm not doing this alone. Masters Shelley Millspaugh (our highest ranking instructor here in the U.S. with the exception of GM's compadre, GM Fred Lazo, who is in our organization but has his own system, "Luzviminda Arnis"), Mike Bowers (who runs the largest IPMAF school in the country), and Russ Blonski (IPMAF Secretary General for Canada) are providing valuable assistance. Information is now flowing again throughout this organization and I'm getting a lot of responses worldwide! It's as if this giant entity that GM spent much of his years creating is waking up from hibernation. We're back! P.S. -- The new official, main IPMAF Website will have a URL of www.presas.org (we've lost www.kombatan.com). I just received the IPMAF family tree from World HQ in the Philippines, so I will be opening that site up very soon. It will have links to all IPMAF school websites.
