We used to backpack in the mountains surrounding the Buffalo River near Ponca every Fall. Occasionally we'd make a trip back into civilization by eating at Pizza Hut in Harrison. Location: Club One Fitness Center in Pleasanton Address: 4460 Hacienda Drive, Pleasanton CA 94588 Directions: Just off the 680/580 junction, exit off 580 at Hacienda Drive. Turn left on Hacienda. Cross Owens Street. Enter Kaiser Permanente parking lot and drive to the right of the building for the Club One entrance. (Note to Kombatan instructors & students in the North Bay: We will caravan from Lito's school in Glen Cove, Vallejo, at 9 AM sharp.) Is the pen truly mightier than the sword? How about in close quarters combat? One thing is certain, it's a lot handier to carry around and is perfectly legal! Using Dulo-Dulo concepts, learn how to turn your pen into a formidable self-defense weapon. This workshop is open to all. While martial arts experience is always helpful, no experience is necessary for this workshop, so be there! Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hey Rez, Well, right now we only have about 6 people in the club. I just started this club in the last couple of weeks. I have been teaching at a school in Branson now for a few months. My wife and I were living in Biloxi Mississippi for the last 5 years and then moved here a couple of years ago. I just now got back to teaching again. I had been working out on my own for the last couple of years. We moved back here to take care of my father after he had a couple of heart attacks. I took a job in Branson playing guitar for the "Lawrence Welk" show. And then this past season I did a bunch of gigs with Bobby Vinton just for the cash. I have my own record deal and have been focused on it for the last few years. But when we moved here I had to drop everything to take care of the family. So just now got really back into teaching again. There is a fabulous teacher that lives in Berryville. His name is Danny Wilson. He is one of the best escrimadors I have ever encountered. This area, as you mentioned, is great for hiking, camping, and fishing. My wife loves the outdoors and so we camp and hike a lot. Next time you are up this way you will have to let me know.
