However I'm keen to learn more about general FMA unarmed techniques - anyone able to point me towards some decent reference information on this? Regards, Trent Adamson Trent, There was no official development of E-H in the Ilustrisimo system. The techniques Tatang used were commonly referred to as "sogo" and was used to describe the spear hand strikes to the eyes, throat and even stomach. From what I have seen, the techniques shared principles from the knife methods i.e. recta As far as FMA, in general...there are a host of resources and videos covering E-H. BTW...who are you learning KI from? Yours in the Arts, Guro John G. We weren't thinking of trying to create a whole new style... but simply trying to introduce some of the arts." Czar, thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected. My apology to you if I offended you. At this point, my only suggestion is why not introduce just FMA to the physical fitness students instead of incorporating some moves. If the students are interested they will bite. Like the Marines, the FMA's should be looking for a few good men or women. Six Black Belts, Broken Sticks Excerpts from a post Ray submitted - Broken sticks There have been a lot of them for Sterling's national champ Lucas Fehringer has a collection of broken sticks.Sixteen-year-old Fehringer is the world champion in double-stick Eskrima...Fehringer's collection of broken sticks helps him remember what made him a champion.Basically, the sport of Eskrima, also known as Kali or Arnis, involves two fighters facing each other with one or two 32-inch bamboo, rattan or wooden sticks. The fighters wear a jacket, a helmet with a mask, gloves and optional padding such as elbow and knee pads to fend off blows from fast-moving sticks. He said people have asked him how he can see the other person's sticks coming at him without his glasses. "They ask, 'How do you see that stick?'" he said. "It's the only thing I see.""He thinks, 'The guy can't hurt me; the sticks can.' So he watches the sticks,"... Wow, a lot of broken sticks. I did not know that they use bamboo and wooden sticks in the WEKAF tournaments. Tremendous force must be being used to break rattan sticks against protective armor. What is the diameter of these sticks a quarter inch? And forget about Lasik surgery when you can use your super vision to see fast moving sticks.
