He was in good health and put in his usual workout up to the day he passed away. A heart attack took him from us while he was sleeping. His teachings will live on in the hundreds of arnisidors he instructed. His classes at Peter's Park in Boston's South end will be carried on by his senior instructors. I first met Guro George at one of Mat Marinas’ seminars over twenty years ago, and despite his cane and a bad hip he was going as strong as most of the young guys.  What struck me most was his humor, warmth, and magnetic personality. When you met him it was as if you were his long lost brother, and you knew you would be friends all your life. He shared his knowledge selflessly and with an almost child-like enthusiasm in what he was doing, never getting tired, lazy or bored.  George was a class act by any ones standards. The whole Pananandata family offer our condolences to his family, students and friends.  George Brewster will be sorely missed.   Rob Mulligan, Pananandata-Marinas                           --__--__-- Message: 5 Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2006 14:01:17 -0500 From: "Van Harn, Steve" To: Subject: [Eskrima] RE: instructors in Hawaii Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net From: "Lawrence, Marc J." FWIW... 2006 G-1 Baton Master Instructor Training Conference Tuscany Suites and Casino, Las Vegas (Open to Law Enforcement and Security Professionals Only) May 08-09, 2006 We are excited to announce the 2006 G-Tek Master Instructor Training Conference will be held at the Tuscany Suites Hotel Monday, May 08 through Tuesday, May 09. The new G-1 expandable baton design is quickly becoming recognized as the new quality standard by many key European Law Enforcement agencies. Since its recent introduction into the US market, the G-1 has received a lot of attention by LE trainers throughout the country because of its improvements in quality, ease of use, and safety features. The purpose of this conference is to train and certify a group of elite Master Instructors and at the same time serve as an opportunity to establish a permanent dialogue on tactics, technology and use of force between trainers, departments and developers. The two day program is packed with classroom and physical training and ends with a certification test. However, we still have room for a few topic related presentations, so if you would like to make one, please let us know. Topics can include baton field use statistics, baton related injuries, training issues or use of force in general. Due to the anticipated size of the event, we are charging a $295 registration fee for this year's conference to defray some of the facilities and other costs. This includes a G-1 baton with holster for each attendee. Space is limited – so please register ASAP to ensure your attendance.
