Eastern Standard Time, eskrima-request@martialartsresource.net writes: I think the journalist who wrote this article just wanted to compare the movements of contemporary Le Canne to the spinning moves of Korean martial arts (why they used Hapkido instead if Taekwondo or Hai Don Gum Do, though, I don't know). They used the Hapkido instead of Taekwondo because the Korean cane techniques originated from Hapkido not Taekwondo. Most of the spinning kicks also are more prevalent in Hapkido and originated there . Jorge, my choice of words was because this happened in Saudi Arabia. My impression is that "domestic workers" there ARE treated as "maids" or even as virtual slaves, and, as infidels, are thought to be lesser beings. I am not the only one who has noticed it. I am good friends with him or should I say was good friends. I want to tell him before I quit and others quit. To tell Not to tell that is the question has anyone else had this problem with an instructor. I tried this in a diferent place with lots of Masters and one one person replied. What should I do. --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 17:55:01 -0400 From: bgdebuque To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Lucio De Vega's final shout of defiance Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net The one I always remember most is Lucio De Vega. He was supposed to have shouted: "Mga tunay na Katipunero kami!" right before he died in the gallows together with Sakay and other hardcore Bonifacio followers. Come to think of it, your grandfather was with Lucio De Vega at that glorious moment... Somebody should popularize this story in the Philippine History curriculum. It is probably more dramatic than Jose Rizal's writing of "Mi Ultimo Adios" (although the group of Lucio De Vega and Macario Sakay are also die-hard admirers of Jose Rizal). > -- __--__-- > > Message: 2 > From: GatPuno@aol.com > Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 09:05:51 EDT > To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Subject: [Eskrima] Great Historical Fact/Sakay > Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > > You did your home work great post, this is very truth, all of them are > member > of the original "Supremo Andres Bonifacio" and the group of General Emilio > Aguinaldo join Katipunan after hearing the massive attraction of member in > katipunan in 7 provinces. --__--__-- Message: 7 From: GatPuno@aol.com Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 18:50:49 EDT To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Agunaldo"s Account Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Kapatid Jay, My favorite subject is "History" but I cant find any of this detail in any book of Zaide, Tolentino, Agoncillo and other old historical writer of the Philippines. But I did research on Local History, and link to the National history, I found a book of General Cailles of Sta Cruz and the book of PAETE published on 1956, i start asking questioned to my History teacher. He himself dont want to be against the book, but later, I found more lead then I start reading the Life of Generala Agueda Kahabagan the woman General of Katipunan. Believed it or not, some of the old Paetenos growing up talking about this, and I start learnig Arnis from the Grandson of General Leon Afu, He tell the story of the Life of his Granfather, and all of this he said was the the truth. But you Politics always has it's own way in our country, Politics change the history of the Philippines. Do you know that during siege of Gen. Aguinaldo ,Lt. Dauglas McArthur, was one of the officer after them, at that time he is only Leutenant, who would know that later he would be the "Governor of the Philippines, later become the General who led Fil/American forces aginst the Japanese. General Doughlas see the Filipino in battle and he told this to one of his officer. You can give me a 1000 Filipino and I would conquer the world. Kapatid Jay in regards of the "Ilustrado time", I called Ilustrado caused this the time when the other Filipino "Turo" other Filipino. This what happen to Macario Sakay, he was set up by Ilustrados, so all the other Filipino here in the US Point other Filipino which call "T&T we call it Ilustrados, those people that went to high Schooling in our governemt during General Aguinaldo Presidency. He soround himself with the so called Ilustrados (Wealthy Class). Who help him in Katipunan all of this "Farmer the working class". Aguinaldo was warned by Apolinario Mabini of this Ilustrado's that they are two faces, "Balimbing" but he dont believe him. So this is the bad start of the Philippine Politics. Okay ang iyong kapatid, Gat Puno Abon "Garimot" Baet > One intriguing mystery in these historical times was, did General Emilio > Aguinaldo order the assassination of supremo Andres Bonifacio?  My college > history professor, a famous writer and historian named Dr. Marcelino Foronda, > told us this interesting anecdote.  He interviewed Aguinaldo when Aguinaldo was > old, but still lucid.  He said he was tempted to ask Aguinaldo that question, > but chickened out.  So my professor claims that Aguinaldo carried that > secret to his grave. >    >   Jay de Leon >   www.tipunan.com --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 23:51:50 +0100 (BST) From: RJ Garcia Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Is there ever room foe an EGO To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Sir, what are your options now?
