The Americans simply baited the group into a trap. There was supposed to be an American emissary with official documents for a truce, pardon and recognition of a provisional government. Right... Instead, American troops surprised and surrounded the group when they came to the festival for the alleged meet. At their trial, the American emissary conveniently disappeared, and the Katipuneros were quickly tried and sentenced to death for being bandits. Philippine history is as steeped in blood as any other country's history. Jay de Leon www.filipinomartialartsmuseum.com bgdebuque wrote: The one I always remember most is Lucio De Vega. He was supposed to have shouted: "Mga tunay na Katipunero kami!" right before he died in the gallows together with Sakay and other hardcore Bonifacio followers. Come to think of it, your grandfather was with Lucio De Vega at that glorious moment... Somebody should popularize this story in the Philippine History curriculum. It is probably more dramatic than Jose Rizal's writing of "Mi Ultimo Adios" (although the group of Lucio De Vega and Macario Sakay are also die-hard admirers of Jose Rizal). > -- __--__-- > > Message: 2 > From: GatPuno@aol.com > Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 09:05:51 EDT > To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Subject: [Eskrima] Great Historical Fact/Sakay > Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net > > You did your home work great post, this is very truth, all of them are > member > of the original "Supremo Andres Bonifacio" and the group of General Emilio > Aguinaldo join Katipunan after hearing the massive attraction of member in > katipunan in 7 provinces. _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list, 2300 members Eskrima@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Thu, 4 May 2006 02:47:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Felipe Jocano Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Motivation for starting and continuing to train in the Filipino Martial Arts To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Check to see if you clicked all the buttons. You know in fighting, or Martial arts, If you lost temper it will trigger your focus, it will disrupt your plan. You should be focus at all times. I studied for more than 12Masters and believed me I have seen worst, but I have to put my personal feeling aside just to learn their arts, not thier ego. I am not saying put up for personal abuse, if he is in any point abusing his power, you also have to let him know, that you are there to learn from him something not to be mal-treated in any way. If you think you can show him that he's ego over powering his skills, then show him that, if you can. If not and you chicken out, then you lose the chance to show him that you are a fighter, inside out. Dont get me wrong, if decide to leave becaused in any good and all he got is ego, I dont blame you, there many more instructor you will be found that more friiendly and willing to share knowledge with you, not to dis-regards what you are there for. On my class, if the student has the ego, I tell them to lose the ego, or I kick them out. If the situation become far absord I told them, if he think he can beat me, I let him spar with me for a couple of rounds. So far, all of this so called ego-maniac person has zero place on my organization. Everyone should be friendly and treat like a family. I clean the mess before my organization turn into dumpters. Keep training, tell him how you feel, if you leave without telling him why you leaved, it will never realized that he is turning himself into a bigger A$$%%%E. Who know it might thank you at the end, may be he doesn't realize it.. Hope you still Train... This is good advice. Many talented people will have an ego. Not all, but many. Learn to overlook it the best you can. You don't need to like your instructor or hang out with them. Just learn from them. Now... if they have a big ego and they suck... then find another instructor.
