Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Jose, I dont disputethe facts that the "Hukbalahap" is origin in Pampangga, as I stated earlier that the organization is headed by Ka Luis Taruc (Kapangpangan). I only correct the meaning or the real translation of"Hukbalahap". We are in the same page in regards of the flow of the History. But again, needless to say, every writer has it own way of discribing the history and sometimes, is mis-leading to some points. That is why its very important that you dont settle in one book or reference alone. We need to be open minded to the other thoughts or what other writer has to say about it and what your analogy in both sides. Like FMA book, history and techniques, each FMA instructors intent to used the name was given to them by their instructors, and Visayan, Pampangga, Tagalog and other dialect are most difinitely find contradicts to each meaning. Like for example "Kamot" in Visayan is hand in Tagalog "Kamot" is scratches, so we should never stick to one dialect, we should learn and find out where the writer come from, then we could relates to what he is trying to express. But after all, we should raise this kind of point so its writer intention would not be treated as bias point. If the Visayan writer, or even Kapampangan writer wrote someting in their Language, he or she is showing his/her native tongue, which is not fair to used against them I think dont you think? Your points is well taken and like I said its good research, keep going don't stop now, find all of this valuable leasson that everybody should know. Gat Puno Abon "Garimot" Baet Garimot Arnis Training Group International PS. Kapatid Jay, in regards of the NPA in Candaba, and Mount Arayat, up to now is the place where the CentralCommnad of the NPA is located. When you travel to Philippines, they have pamplets that stated, Tourist "where to go" and "where not to go", and this place is one listed to where not to go "Off Limit". > Gat Puno Abon, >    I do not dispute the eventual popularised name in Tagalog.  However, I > was just pointing out the origins of the movement and the name the founders > have given it.  On acknowledging your point, the name does translate into the > Tagalog version popular today. >    I value your knowledge and input during these exchange of ideas rising > from this topic. >     Here is more information regarding the orgin of the Huks according to > research and personal interviews conducted by my friend and Pampanga historian > who goes by the pen name Siuala ding Meangubie trans. lit "Voices of Whose > Lives Were Taken"(and not Voices of the Dead)or in Tagalog "Tinig ng Nabawian > ng Buhay"(as oppossed ot Tinig ng mga Patay) > > "The HUKBALAHAP was organised between the eastern > foothills of Bunduk Arayat and the Candaba Swamp in > 1942 by Luis Taruc and the remnants of the Partido > Komunista ng Pilipinas and the Socialist Party of the > Philippines-Aguman ding Madlang Talapagobra(Union/Gathering of the People's > Laborers)" > > With Much Respect, > Jose Capitulo --__--__-- Message: 4 From: "Young Forest" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Tue, 09 May 2006 16:40:43 +0000 Subject: [Eskrima] FMA in Kelowna BC? Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net The association I work for is packing me off for a week again, this time to beautiful Kelowna BC. I always try to sample some of the local MA whenever I travel, and I'm hoping to do so again. Anybody on the list know some FMA'ers in Kelowna? I've found one school that does arnis and kempo, so I might just contact them, but it's always better to be able to say "so-and-so recommended I contact you while I was in town."
