Does not matter what a few jihadist apologist say, since its founding Islam has used jihad in this manner; (from the American Heritage Dictionary) 1) A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels, 2) crusade or struggle. This has been the way of it since Mohamed and his crew sacked Mecca and banished its Jewish population (after the Jews had given him refuge from his enemies), to the conquest of Spain by jihad, to the conquest of Greece and southern Europe by jihad to the jihad in Dafur currently. So, go ahead and be apologists for jihadist, but stop blowing smoke in our faces on this list please. It can certainly mean armed struggle, but the Prophet Mohammed described that as the lesser jihad and one's personal struggle against one's faults, shortcomings and lack of faith as the greater jihad. Think of "crusade", literally to take up the cross. It can mean genocidal war against all non-Christians. It can also be a dedication to some perfectly praiseworthy religious cause such as ending slavery. --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2006: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
