I have trained with him and his top student (Master Ariel Mosses of Las Vegas, NV) for the past 9 years. They are friends of my instructor (PG Myrlino Hufana). I would say that you could not go wrong training with them. Marc... from what I gather on the ARMA website other other online forums, ARMA fully believes in blocking. The contention between ARMA and other researchers is that ARMA takes the stance that blocks should be done with the flat (either your flat against your oponents blade or your edge against their flat) and seldom (never?) done edge against edge. And that... is a whole nuther kettle o' fish. -steve --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2006 19:46:54 -0700 (PDT) From: Bill McGrath To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Re: Swords East and West Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net There will be some very knowledgeable sword makers at the New England Bladesmiths Guild seminar held the third weekend in September in Olivebridge NY. I’ve taught there about a half dozen times (usually an hour of Pekiti or silat) and have always been impressed by the quality of the instructors (if you are familiar with the custom knife world then you will recognize most of them). If you would like to ask a question on what a sword can and cannot do from an expert swordmaker/metallurgist, this is the right event to attend. The cost for the weekend (Friday night through Sunday noon) with room and board is $225 Saturday only is $180 Sunday's knife show (a good place to ask questions if you can't make the whole event) is just $20 which includes lunch. You'll find more info here: http://www.tzknives.com/ashokan.html Regards, Tuhon Bill McGrath www.pekiti.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
