I'd like to see one come out but it would depend on who in SoCal would be willing to work with FMA Digest to make it a reality. Steven Dowd, publisher of FMA Digest, can't do it all on his own. I volunteered for NorCal simply because I live here and know many of practitioners personally. There are others I forgot to put on the list (because it was just off the top of my head), like Gints Klimanis, who created the "Gentlemen's Fight Club" and Reginald Burford, a world champion in some tournament(s) in the Philippines 1988-1991. Many years ago, Reginald was holding a sparring seminar and I was in the mood for some action, so I went over. He wouldn't let me participate because I didn't bring any armor. Not knowing it was domination style, I didn't think armor was needed. Gints, who attended some or most of my first "Spotlight on the Masters" seminar series, offered to lend me his, but Reginald wouldn't allow it (for good reason, I'm sure.). So I just watched... and saw the darndest thing... In their full armor, one fighter was throwing a bunch of "witiks" to his opponent's midsection while totally ignoring 3 (three!) full-power San Miguel strikes to his neck, one after the other! In real life, the guy's head should have been on the ground, between his legs! Right then and there, I was totally turned off to domination style fighting. It just didn't make sense.... I'm not so dead-set against it anymore, however. It really depends on the fighters --to maintain their art during a match and have respect for the weapon even though they may be fully armored. Often, they are one of the nicest dedicated professional bunch but watch out!! These ladies maybe passive and tolerant in their jobs but by all accounts are also beyond strong and over bearing. I have many years of hospital work and so have in many occassions actually watched these ladies used and applied their strength at work like lefting and transferring big patients to another bed with ease using just the bed sheet. And, this is just one of the many physical challenges they face at the hopspital. In this case, Susan K. an emergency nurse at that have seen enough and isn't fazed anymore by the worst in her work. She's got adrenaline flowing and it was just worknfortunate for this bad guy to have encountered her in her turf. My kind of Lady in Portland!!
