He and his students are a good bunch of guys with a lot of knowledge to offer. -Steve Kohn Ray wrote: A great starting list... > Terry, Ray (Inayan Eskrima) You could probably change me to "Sudlud Eskrima". And add Guro Jon Ward as Inayan Eskrima and Guro Jason Inay as Inayan Eskrima. They are both here in the Bay Area. And I am fortunate that we are family! Regarding your pros, cons, and misconceptions in tournament fighting, I agree with you. All -- Regarding the match at Luneta Park, someone had sent me the clip, saying it was a six minute match. I sent off a private email to GP Baet kidding him about it. I told him that either his opponent was very, very good, or he (Gat Puno) was slipping! It turned out that the ENTIRE match was six seconds, with the actual exchange of strikes lasting about two to three seconds if you counted the pause between the disarm (which happened in the first split second of contact) and the final strike before the other GM's stepped in to stop the fight. Now that's the Abon I know! I haven't see anyone using the rope like we do, I used 1" to 1-1/2 inches in diameter rope, lenght is depend on your waist, if you have a bigger waist, wrap around the Rope to your waist and give extra 16 inches long. So if your waist is 36" add 16" then 52" in total. We used them for striking, disarming, control and locks, originally the native used this kind of rope for "hunting" deer, wild bore, even Monkey and Crocodile. This the primary weapon of choice by the Native Mangyan for Hunting in the Philippines. I dont see "Bakbakan Group" used the same Rope that I used, so far everyone is surprise to see the rope in my waist, everywhere I gave demonstration. I used them as my belt.. I am not saying no one used them, I am just saying I dont see anyone used the same rope that used, or the thickness that I used. Reply: Sorry, you're not the only one. Our version is roughly the same size. We also add a Monkey Paw knot at each end similar to what sailors would use for throwing ropes up into the rigging. And yes, sometimes we wear it around our waist. I cannot remember the details, but I believe he has a single strand hanging from the ceiling and at the striking level he has several lengths of the same rope tied together in parallel so as to speak, to make the target thicker. Do not quote me on it. E-mail him directly, I do not think he monitors this group regularly. He is a prince of a guy and I am sure he will respond.
