Other than someone getting their panties wet about its "ability" to cut human flesh because of the wave (i.e. don't tell me about its use for "knife fighting"), can anybody tell me the practical uses of the Spyderco Kris? What is the tool application of this blade? I mean kerambuts are great tools for opening boxes and as many LEOs/EMTs/Firemen etc., found out safely cutting people out of seatbelts in carwrecks. Bowie knives are great skinners and survival knives. Tontos make for damn effective fishing knives. The kris has major cultural, cerimonial, social and mojo implications in certain cultures, but we're talking about a mass produced knife from a major manufacturer. Mr. Sardinas, I'll start with my sole point: does this event qualify as "full contact stick fighting" if the opponents never actually touch each other, stick to skin? Given the rules for this tournament posted in a previous message, I would say no. The "full contact" in the title should be dropped to make room for other events that have fewer restrictions. That said, I like to see these events grow in number, and when possible, I would like to participate. The players that I have met in the WEKAF circuit (Oakland Escrima Club, and others) are highly skilled and well-conditioned. Sparring with full body padding is an excellent way to train many aspects of FMA, and I often practice that way.
