More Information please call :323-350-8500 or felixflp@msn.com Mr. Klimanis, Your question "does this event qualify as "full contact stick fighting" if the opponents never actually touch each other, stick to skin? My answer - YES. You also wrote - "Sparring with full body padding is an excellent way to train many aspects of FMA, and I often practice that way." Seems like a contradiction to your question. Anyway, many events are promoted as "full contact stick fighting" even though the participants are wearing protective padding so I find no fault in this upcoming event's promotion. Getting back to your question, I understand your point but our opposed opinions are about an organized tournament. Mr. Arola, Thank you for your civil reply and honesty. I have a high regard for men and woman who are in the armed forces and all veterans. Especially for those who served in Vietnam because when my number was up, the war ended. Regarding you not having any experience in any 'real-world' stick fighting neither do I. I did particpate in PTK full contact matches back in the 80's but I never had the fear I was going to be hurt - too much padding. I will bet that at least 99.9% of all FMA participants today have never had a "real world stick fighting expeience" where there is no padding, no judges, no friends, just sticks and ultimately no action. I would like to acknowledge your efforts in North Carolina and hope that you have planted some roots so that the FMA's will grow there despite your absense. Good luck in Houston. This as usual, turned out to be a great event with alot of seasoned fighters. Unique this time was the inclusion of 6 round matches. We held a light weight, middle weight and welter weight fight. Fighters have to be in exceptional conditioning. We first held this event in the International Filipino Combat Championships back in Feb foillowed by another event in the NJ open karate championships. Master Dong will again be holding 6 round "pro" matches in his March PIMA invitational. If you are in the area check it out or email us for info.
