Jose -----Original Message----- From: marcmacyoung@earthlink.net To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Sent: Sat, 18 Nov 2006 11:18 AM Subject: [Eskrima] spyderco kris Okay I got asked this question and flat out couldn't answer it. Other than someone getting their panties wet about its "ability" to cut human flesh because of the wave (i.e. don't tell me about its use for "knife fighting"), can anybody tell me the practical uses of the Spyderco Kris? What is the tool application of this blade? I mean kerambuts are great tools for opening boxes and as many LEOs/EMTs/Firemen etc., found out safely cutting people out of seatbelts in carwrecks. Bowie knives are great skinners and survival knives. Tontos make for damn effective fishing knives. The kris has major cultural, cerimonial, social and mojo implications in certain cultures, but we're talking about a mass produced knife from a major manufacturer. I didn't have much more notice than you did. One of the guys asked about possibly getting together but he said he was kinda short on cash so I figured if I could get a small group together it would help defray the cost and I know several people in your area are interested. I'd like to get something set up on a monthly basis like we had going at Mr. Dobbs's school. Probably best to shoot for January to start that - get the holidays out of the way. But I'm thinking that we should be able to put something together. ---------------- KIM; hey long time no hear.. i had made contact w/ Mr. Bowlds leading him in your direction as well hoping you could help him. As he said, it was designed for the "knife knut "crowd. I'm just thinking how would one try to explain carrying one to a cop. So far it's coming up pretty weak.
