To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hello All: SMAK-Stiks would like to congratulate the members of the USFMAF for getting FMA added to the 2007 Disney Martial Arts Festival. This is a great opportunity for FMA as a whole, as one can only assume that Disney will be expansively marketing the event. SMAK-Stiks is also happy to announce that our padded weapons will be the official padded weapons used in the tournament. Again, congratulations to the USFMAF. We are looking forward to being at the event and giving it our full support. He was doing some double stick drills where in between the hits he was hitting his own stick or hitting the floor. What is the purpose of this? Is it just to make the drills more challenging coordination wise or do they have some other purpose? I figured with so many Inayan practitioners available here someone would be able to enlighten me :-) It was also fun to see him effortlessly doing double stick drills with two people at the same time. I was taught that the extra hits during these movements were to signify certain things. Hitting the stick between strikes during the 4-count siniwali symbolized knocking blades that locked together loose or assisting the blade that got stuck after cutting into its victim. Hitting the ground was a situational moved used to gain an advantage. This strike was meant to throw dust or dirt into the opponent's eye. Hope that clears up any questions. I am no master but that's what I remember from my teachings. > From: defondo@hotmail.com> To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net> Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 21:32:07 +0000> Subject: [Eskrima] Inayan drill> > Hi,> I just got my hands on a seminar video with Suro Mike Inay shot in Oslo in > 1996.
