Again, where is the evidence that this was a pretense? Was he disavowed by his teacher? In what way was the agreement between him and GM Binas made public knowledge? If he did not later on keep to his promise to teach GM Binas's art exclusively, in what way is this linked to being a pretense as defined below? Do the motive and the action necessarily follow in this case or can you interpose other motives as well? I am asking out of genuine ignorance. I read here and there about Mark, both negative and positive and in this case, since a statement has been written about his motives and actions, I am really curious as to the basis for the statement, especially the part about the pretense in order to obtain the inheritor title. I'm not sure what more can be said that hasn't already been said. One good thing that did come from Mark's brief exposure to Angel and Serrada is that it obviously sparked a keen interest in the FMAs that has stayed with Mark all the years since. You can see clips on you tube. I posted them here before." Their loss for turning them down! I have recently bought a couple of Bob Spour DVDs. He is certainly entertaining as well as having the appropriate credentials. I was interested that, like Jim Grover in his combatives series, he espouses use of the open hand rather than a closed fist (Jim Grover uses closed hammer fist, never striking with knuckles). I understand that for professionals this is a way to protect hands for the transition to weapons. However, I often wondered if this is somewhat of a trade-off. In other words, if you hit 100 people with a closed-fist and 100 people with open hand using the same technique and target, would you get more knockouts in the first, second or neither group? Experimenting on inanimate objects I feel that the power transfer should be if anything better using the open hand as a wrist and a fist (especially poorly formed) are significant source of power leaks The Canadian Research Council is for some reason refusing to fund this study, but there should be enough experience on this group to form an opinion one way or the other.
