Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Master Jay,,nice for you to share your time and pictures with the Bohol Dance Troupe. Indeed, a welcome pause and change of pace from "martial to arts " in ED. Yeah, always a great feeling of elation watching cultural dances/show from back home. Reminds me of my sojourn with the UP Filipiniana Dance troupe during my college years. It was fun then!! For us in the FMA, some of these dances were a means to secretly escape/hide practice during the spanish ban of our fighting systems. Thanks be to them who bravely mind this venue to preserved what we all are doing today. If any of these troupe come to your towns, I strongly recommend that you all find time to watch the gentlier side of filipinos. Guranteed satisfaction for sure. Hey Jay,,I knew it, ever a charmer that you be sorrounded by a bevy of pretty filipinas in one of the pictures. Got to teach us some of these sleek moves too. Professor Amante Marinas taught Arnis De Mano as well as Pananandata weapons techniques at a seminar yesterday. The seminar was packed with skilled and beginner practitioners alike which made for a great learining experience. Single and double stick as well as stick and knife techniques were covered. There was an amazing demonstration of stick and balisong as well as the whip and balisong by the only man to be granted a Master rank in the Pananandata system, Spencer Gee. Hands on instruction was given by Guron Rob Mulligan, Guro Spencer Gee and Professor Marinas himeself. Professor Marinas was presented with an award by the knife throwing hall of fame at the event as well. All in all it was a fantastic day of training. The 6 hour seminar was packed with techniues, sparring and discussion. I would like to thank Guro Rob Mulligan and his wife for orchestrating such a wonderful event. I would like to thank Guro Rob Mulligan, Guro Spencer Gee and Professor Marinas for the time they spent with me helping me refine my technique. I would also like to thank all that attended. To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Master Jorge: kumusta? thanks for the kind words. those "sleek moves" you talk about are part of my FMA curriculum, lol. for somebody who was in the UP Filipiniana Dance Troupe, i am sure you have your own. for the others' info, the Filipiniana Dance Troupe of the University of the Phiippines was during Master Jorge's times the premier school dance troupe that gave national as well as international performances, and there were not too many of them then. Now, many major universities and colleges in the phil. have excellent dance troupes, like the one I saw. i echo master jorge's suggestion--if you get a chance to watch one of these troupes, either local or from the phil, go watch them both for the entertainment, cultural and even martial arts value. jay de leon www.tipunan.com jorge penafiel wrote: Master Jay,,nice for you to share your time and pictures with the Bohol Dance Troupe. This is a complete system of martial arts in everyway. the practical application of this system is amazing. i would recommend anyone to attend future seminars. The Dacayana Seminar in Bedford United Kingdom was a absolute success, and all attend felt they had found something very special indeed. the seminar was attended by masters and students from many different countrys. on a personal note, i have found the art i wish to focus on, which is Dacayana Escrima, and i have found with in the Dacayana U.K & Sacret Spring U.K a Martial arts Family that im very proud to be apart of.
