Tom became involved in the internal arts (hsing-i, ba-gua) after he took up the FMA's, and I believe that is where my teacher Al met up with him. The internal arts that Tom studied were a huge influence on his Eskrima, and Al still talks about the revelation of studying with Tom in relation to body mechanics and power hitting. And yes, he did win a tournament in the Philippines a number of years ago, he is an incredibly talented martial artist. Al was also impressed by what a genuinely nice guy Tom is, very down to earth, willing and eager to share his knowledge, just a good, kind, well-rounded person. We need more people like him in the arts. Thanks again, sir, Kim Satterfield Midwest School of Eskrima Message: 5 From: "Abdon S. I saw a video of the tournament which he WON in the Phillippines; He was the first American to win a Doce Pares tournament in the Phillippines if I remember correctly. He was also a long time student of Tuhon Leo Gaje for a while. I think he now dedicates most of his time to the healing arts. Hope this helps!!!
