FWIW, in some areas of the phil, like pangasinan, the term used is "maestro" as the equivalent of guro for teacher, without the connotation of "master." My good friend GM Salinas from Pangasinan and myself address each other as "Maestro." We are not egotistically calling each other as Master, although GM Salinas is indeed an FMA master. jay de leon www.filipinofightingartsintl.com --- "james jr. sy" wrote: > Have to second the motion for Ferdie. It'll be taught by a guy called Zainal Abidin Sheikh Awab (sp?) who I believe comes very highly rated. I'm not getting much from Google. Anyone know much about him? All I have heard is that he has a requirement of his students that they study two years of thai prior to training with him. He comes from a part of Malaysia close to Thailand, and as a result his silat works very well to counter muay thai.
