Nessia PIA Daily News Dumaguete City (5 January) -- The Dumaguete Arnis team is set to join the qualifying event of the upcoming 10th World Arnis Championship in Cebu. Cebu province is set to host the said championship games sometime in July this year. Dumaguete was given a slot to participate in the qualifying event, according to Ike Xavier Villaflores who heads the Negros Oriental Muaythai team. Villaflores said Dumaguete needs a strong Arnis team this year. "We had four champions during the 8th World Arnis Championship," he said. The four champions in the 8th World Championship who came from Dumaguete City were James Clark G. Rocaberte, Rosben Cimafranca, Jojie Pasagdan and Ma. Kotska Fleischer. As of now, the selection period for the Dumaguete team is ongoing. Im nursing a strain in my hip too!! Anyhow, I will be visiting baguio for a couple of weeks and hope to hook up with a modern arnis teacher there, possible doce pares instruction there too. Gonna hit the beach in la union, go to dagupan for a day or two then might go to banaue to see the rice terraces. After that, I plan on going to manila to train with a couple or three gm's there.I hope to do some balintiwak, kali ilustrisimo, and pekiti tirsia. I think I can get most of the training in makati with one session at luneta. I will be online sometime in the next week. Hopefully I can get some more ideas about training in dagupan and baguio. Dont want to miss a day of training!!! Happy New Year and hope y'all had a merry christmas.
