Subsquently I have had the great pleasure of training with him a couple of times and having him teach a session at one of our Summer Training Camps. His system is quite distinctive and he and it have been an influence on me to the point where we carry his DVD on our site. He has a wonderful energy to him and it does not surprise me to learn that he played a key role in bringing GMs Giron and Cabales together that day. It was quite fortunate that we had a camera there that day and captured interviews with both men, which along with several others, can be seen on our DVD "The Grandfathers Speak". Over the years since we released it I have had many people comment on the passionate interview by GM Cabales. Trivia: Our cameraman George was fresh out of a so-elite-it-didn't-exist ;-) military unit and was the man who a few years before had introduced my then-teacher Paul Vunak to the USN SEALs. In addition to being cameraman I asked him to also be the interviewer for the interviews that day because he most certainly had a warrior's perspective AND he was a complete empty cup viz the FMA. George spoke the English language quite well and loved long convoluted sentences with sophisticated grammatical structure. If you listen to the question that starts the interview with which the portion of the interview that appears in the DVD, it asked what GM Cabales thought of the effort to "fly under one flag". The intended meaning was of all the different groups coming together for the National Tournament, but the meaning taken was that he was inferring that GM Cabales was now under Doce Pares's flag-- and with that the interview was off and running.
