In size, weight and shape it is halfway between the golok and the kampilan. The style of the klewang differs between the various cultures of Indonesia; there are straight bladed types, but most are curved.   During the Aceh War the acehnese klewangs proved very effective in close quarters combat with Dutch troops and the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army adopted a heavy cutlass, also called klewang, to counter it. Mobile troops armed with carbine and klewang succeeded in suppressing Aceh resistance where traditional infantry with rifle and bayonet had failed." Another good example would be Malaysian Golok which until now is standard issue to the British SAS.   The best example, of course, from an FMA perspective is the US Military's own "love affair" with the Philippine Bolo.   I myself was surprised that the best functional vintage bolos were ones made by Springfield Armory, Plumb Philadelphia or Plumb St. Louis and not by a Filipino blademaker.   Whenever a Western army adopts an indigenous weapon, it would logically follow that it would also adopt to a certain degree the techniques and tactics associated with such weapon.  This explains why Bolo Training and the practice of forming "Bolo Battalions" during the Filipino-Spanish and Filipino-American wars was continued during the Philippine Scout years.    What if I tell you that was borrowed from our Cinco Teros Eskrima, would you believed it? Becaused Cinco Teros is has been used and recorded as early 1570 is on leaf of our history, the warrior Bambolito the Sinawali Warrior from Central Luzon help Raja Solaiman depending Tondo (Manila) during the Spanish invasion. Then Moro-moro was formed on 1637, which is based on Cinco Teros Arnis called at that time Kadaanan, later it become Kabaroan.
