The Lapu Lapu corto from Cherusker is a beautifully crafted Blade. It Is one of my favorites blade. I own one and plan on buying another one and the trainer as well. You can tell from the design and feel of the Blade it was designed specifically for FMA players. Some designers try but Bram Frank hit the mark with the Lapu Lapu Corto. It is a Bram Frank design as well... kind of an A-2 Gunting I have owned both and actually prefer the Cherusker to the Spyderco. It is lighter and the blade is better suited for a cutting technique. And the fact that they are right around $80 or so as opposed to $200+ for the Spyderco certainly dosen't hurt!! Ebay is where I got mine and if I recall correctly I gave about $85 for it. _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list, 2600 members Eskrima@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2008: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://eskrima-fma.net --__--__-- Message: 2 From: "Stickgrappler ..." The miracle kid was stabbed and left for dead during a robbery at a bus stop last November in south London, the BBC reported. It could have been a grisly end for the victim if his pals had not intervened and fought off the attacker. They suffered serious wounds themselves during the robbery attempt; one was stabbed in the chest. The 5-inch blade was plunged into the 16-year-old's skull just above his right eye, and penetrated all the way to his ear. The handle was left ghoulishly sticking out, as captured in these images released yesterday. The victim has recovered and is now a student in college, the BBC reported. But he still needs to visit doctors regularly. The 17-year-old suspect made his getaway on foot, but was later identified when cops were able to recover DNA from his hat. The attacker - who, like the victim, has not been named publicly due to British law - was found guilty of attempted murder by the Inner London Crown Court."change hxxp to http ... hxxp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v446/Stickgrappler/ma/news019.jpg hxxp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v446/Stickgrappler/ma/news019a.jpg _________________________________________________________________ See how Windows connects the people, information, and fun that are part of your life. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp1020093175mrt/direct/01/ --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2008 07:25:34 +0300 From: "Eric Taimanglo" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Waitress nails bank robber Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net So she used to be Polizei, huh? I remember when I was stationed in Kitzingen, someone mentioned that female Polizei recruits undergo an extra week or so of training to overcome larger subjects. Must be some hot training. Something tells me our female LEOs don't get the same attention in this regard. I hope I'm wrong. --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Sun, 5 Oct 2008 20:56:08 -0700 (PDT) From: B Light Subject: RE: [Eskrima] Gunting Knives To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Thanks for the helpful replies, I truly appreciate it!! The park is 2 blocks Ewa of University Ave on King Street. King Street is one way going Diamond Head direction. Stay in the right lane on King Street after McCully Street and take Makahiki Street which is just after the McDonalds and the public library. Go down to the end of Makahiki Street and the next to last driveway on the left side of the street will take you to the parking lot for the Old Stadium Park. *This workshop is free * and will give you a chance to experience the reality based, fast paced action of SPKF. We suggest to wear old clothes and bring a light colored long sleeve (white if possible) T-shirt that you can fight in. *We use a washable paint* on the safe rubber knives to indicate hits, but a potential for some staining is possible. *We require that you fight using a solid face mask.* The standard foam helmets used in padded stick competition is acceptable and we have solid clear face masks that can be easily adapted to most foam helmets. If you do not have a foam helmet, you can use one of our specially designed solid face masks that do not require a helmet. We suggest the use of padded gloves to protect your hands from collisions during sparring. If you have questions please email me or call 808 259-6564. Please pass this email on to anyone that you think will be interested in SPKF. We hope to see you there. mahalo Master Ron England Ola'a-nalo Eskrima Karl Vorwerk --__--__-- Message: 7 Date: Sun, 5 Oct 2008 23:46:21 -0500 From: Anthony To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Bullwhip Practice/Training in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Area Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Hello Everyone, I have been working with one of Peter Jack's "Latigo y Daga" bullwhips for a short time and was wondering if there were any Kali practitioners in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area who either taught or at a minimum were a student of the bullwhip as well. This whip is the one designed by Tom Meadows...founder of the Latigo y Daga association. Thank you for your input. - Anthony --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2008 04:20:07 -0700 (PDT) From: B Katz Subject: RE: [Eskrima] Gunting Knives To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I especially like the serrations on the liners.
