Its never asked for. The person who comes through the door for the first time doesnt want to appear ignorant so says Thai or mma at our school. Rather than argue we simply make each student take part in three months plus of Phase 1 fundementals programme and the weapons are introduced in that. The take up then to the FMA classes is greater as a result. the best lesson i learnt was from Dwight Woods who told me to stop looking at the problem through my eyes. Look at it from a normal persons eyes. So we looked at our products from the normal persons perspective. We tripled our membership without becoming a mcdojo. Where do they hear of FMA? Kung Fu yes. MMA yes. BJJ yes. FMA press is poor (except in house) and does not get presented with imagry of six packed athletes as the other arts do except by marc denny ; ) look at the clothing sales related to thai, bjj and mma. its a massive business. The promoters are hoping to make this a yearly gathering similar to the San Diego Comic Con. They have been contacting local eskrimadors to showcase their talent. Master Christopher Ricketts with Kali Ilustrisimo will be doing a demo on Sunday with his sons between 10 am - 1 pm. It is an impressive tool and after training with it you can understand why warriors carried it as a last line of defense. If you were thinking of carrying this on the street I would really rethink this. I would not carry one and the following is why. The Police Officers I train, I reinforce their training to put space between themselves and edged weapon threat like found in the Karambit. The reason for this is there is enough information out there of Officers being wounded or killed by such knifes. In training I instruct them to be on the lookout for any knifes that have a finger ring or a T style handle because these have only one use or application on the street in my opinion and that is to inflict max damage with little to no effort. These blades are also VERY difficult to disarm increasing the risk for Law Enforcement. In today’s world a person would have a very difficult time explaining any reason for carrying such a blade other than to use against another person for self-defense. Many states this is considered to be a concealed weapon and you could possibly be charged for carrying it. Just my two cents. Train hard and Safe Mac ---- bart wrote: > Hello All, Kumusta ?
