I remember watching her fight from her early days in Bakersfield under Mr. Eric Nolan. I hope she does well, since both had FMA training under Guro Ted Lucaylucay. Perhaps the MMA enticement will bring back the likes of Graciella Casillas & Lucia Riker (other FMA alums)? Now that would bring a $$MILE to Dana White or EliteXC/Affliction. If I weren't too dam' old and very married, I'd be willing to take that challenge! Saw Ms. Long fight once during her kickboxing career, I forget exactly when, maybe around 1990? In Baltimore, MD, it was, had the autographed 8x10 glossy of her for quite a while. Not just because she looked great, but because she was a really cool, down-to-earth person who could also fight for real, not just playing tag like all those point tournaments. Anyway, neither here nor there. If she's still in shape enough to do MMA, then she's even more impressive than ever! laytahs! --__--__-- Message: 3 From: Danny Anderson To: Date: Sat, 25 Oct 2008 02:33:06 +0000 Subject: [Eskrima] RE: Dan Anderson Seminar Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net What Guro Jay says is correct. Many US Modern Arnis are not blade guys. What Toma didn't mention is that I said "By inclination I am not a cutter." I know how to use a blade, much thanks to my partner Bram Frank and to Remy Presas' original teachings. I can cut, I prefer to bang. My thanks to Toma - we had a great time at the seminar. See that's the magic of these drinks - makes one foolishly brave, have lots of stamina, as well as verility specially when "Balut" is the pulotan (ask any pinoy this). Just for laughs as for now it's Flu season here in the east coast and the Flu Bug got me!! Geez,,no defense moves against this yearly pain all over the body. So,,,careful out there! BTW,,,get your Flu shots and if possible include the "Pneunonia shot too. Time will tell... Umm, on these women returning to full-contact fighting, aren't they just a bit beyond their prime? I'm 56 and I don't like the idea of getting old, but it does slow one down. Not that these ladies are approaching 60 like me, but I believe Kathy Long is ~45 and Graciela Casillas is ~50. Ray On Oct 24, 2008, at 6:51 PM, L.
