This was later integrated into his PT. Ray --__--__-- Message: 2 From: GatPuno@aol.com Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2008 22:04:17 EST To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Subject: [Eskrima] Open Challenge? Gentleman Game. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net To all Kapatid in Arnis/Eskrima/Kali, Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving weekend. Gene, Just want to give little of my thought on the Dumog in Panay, and Eskrima Challenges. I am sorry can't go to Negros or Panay to put that kind of money to challenge and get response from Eskrimadores, Arnisadores of Negros and Panay. I know exactly what you are talking about, put money on it specially equivalent to one year salary. I was forced to fight becaused of that scenario back then, I was motivated by the "Price" usually I dont care about the thropy and title, all I want is to get the highest and Ultimate price the Money. I fought in Stickfighting Challnenge no padded no gear, live stick for more than 310 fight NO loss on my prime I did this for 7 years. But that is becaused of money, nothing from to get student nor to get popular. But you know what once you are there, popularity and fame is part of this GAME. So I kind of dont have a choice in Laguna. Laguna which is still practiced this "Tournament" of Eskrimadores/Arnisadores the old way, they dont mind being challenge, it's part of being "Eskrimador" being part of if you coined yourself as the "Best" then you are the most wanted to beat. I feel your side, you have pride on what you do and to your culture. But reality in modern world, you need some kind of advertising to get some attention. You are absolutely right (Kulang sa Pansin) not being notice. But there is a lot of Eskrimadores of waht we called("Masalita lamang") only talk no action in Spanish saying "mucho habla hase nunca". It's a typical "house Dog' they barking inside the house, try to look at them and their tail coiled down covering his/her groin, then start to ("hikbi") like crying sounds. I f you open your mouth one should know when to closed them too. Get it? Now, If I got a chance to visit Negros and Panay I am interested to meet Eskrimadores that willing to exchange ideas by way of stick sparring, not to the point to get killed and to kill, meet Dumugero that can pin me to the groud and later eat together and maybe drink San Miguel Beer and laugh about it win or loss. I believed the Eskrima is still a Gentleman Game, and challenge is not forbidden. The forbidden is to used the arts in wrongful doing. Filipino is a culture that love to gathered and convers, and I know if you sell something, guaranteed Filipino will buy it. If you know someone would love to joined our Tournaments, I will keep you posted on when is the date and time in Laguna. This is not a challenge this is invitational. $2000 US dollar is not enough now for me to fight someone to almost death but I did exactly what you are refering to when I was there still in Philippines. So I could tell you all, been there done that, now the rest is history, but I am willing to stand too what I believed win or loss sparring keep your skill sharp to the max, and if you dont do that like an old car, it will run poorly if is not up-to-date in maintenance.
