The first review is on Ontario Knives' Spec Plus Gen II line. The smaller models reviewed make for great pakal knives. Dan Inosanto did not write it. 2. Paul Vunak wrote it. Calling Tae Ju Ken Bo as a FMA, is pretty much a joke. I know, because I was living at Clark Air Base and remember a tournament at the big gym there; I remember the head of TaeJuKenBo being a Balikbayan, not a Filipino. The only Filipino martial artists there were some Modern Arnis people and some Karateka. You say that the higher level of martial arts is talking... about politics? I used to think like that once. Oh well, I'm off to train. Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net   Hello,   I recently was offered a position at a local PBS TV station here in Florida.  While working here I thought it would be interesting to do a documentary on filipinos and their part on WWII.  Currently, this is still in its planning stages.  My first thoughts are:   -focus on what was happening in the Philippines -how they lived during the war -how it changed their lives -strategies on how filipino men and women fought/confronted/ambushed japanese troops -filipino womens' role in fighting japanese soldiers   If anyone is able to give me any information on people I can talk to who were actually there so that I may hopefully get a chance to interview them, I would be very appreciative.  They can live both here in the States or in the Philippines.  Also, if anyone knows of any documentaries already out I would like to know titles and where I can possibly get a copy.   Although I am filipino, I grew up in the states and do not know much about Philippine history.  I feel this would be a great way to learn.  This will be my first documentary so I will be learning how to do one of these as I get deeper into this project.   For those who would like to email me personally can do so at sdegalicia@yahoo.com.   Many thanks in advance for any help you guys (and ladies) can provide...     Sam.                 --__--__-- Message: 4 Date: Sun, 7 Dec 2008 11:44:56 -0800 (PST) From: jay de leon Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Research help. To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net hi sam:   it is a little bit late in the game to be interviewing anybody now.  all my relatives who fought in the war and even my dad who was a young man during the war and the Japanese Occupation have passed away.   i am sure you are familiar with pertinent literature, like Leo Giron wrote a book about his days in the Phil. as an american operative behind enemy lines, the "Santo Tomas Story" and the like.   One living person you can interview could be Fr. James Reuter, SJ who was imprisoned in the Los Banos Prison by the Japanese together with other Jesuits and other oders.  of course, his would be a limited and unique point of view, but he is alive and well at the Ateneo, but you better hurry if you want to interview him, because he is now in his 90's.   a classmate of mine from the Ateneo is now one of the philippines foremost historians and published author-- fellow by the name of Rey Ileto.  last contact with him, he was a history professor or dean at the university of singapore.  you may google and contact him, or i can track down his contact info for you or arrange an introduction for you, if you think that will help.   congratulations with the new position and good luck with the project.  please keep us posted.   jay de leon www.tipunan.com --- On Sun, 12/7/08, Sam D wrote: From: Sam D Subject: [Eskrima] Research help. Fabian Pallorina.  He was an artillery officer in the battle of Bataan (he became deaf in one ear), and survived the Death March and imprisonment and torture at Capas, Tarlac.   jay de leon (middle name pallorina) www.filipinomartialartsmuseum.com   --- On Sun, 12/7/08, iPat wrote: From: iPat Subject: Re: [Eskrima] Re: Research help.
