In our training group, we have two kinds of testing methods- - fights with any array of weaponry (padded weaponry) against any number of opponents; most targets are available, and continue in the event of a lost weapon or a disarm. - scenario training, complete with bystanders, verbal interaction, preassault cues. This, I feel, is more important than the sparring. I think that without this training, a martial artist who would come to the defense of others as well as self is lacking. Hard contact. No pads. No gloves. But with a very good and welll trained partner that you can trust to not break your skull open if you make a dumb mistake. A controlled rap on the skull or hand, as opposed to a crushing blow will show what would have happened had your opponent not been such a good friend with good control. imho Ray On Jun 24, 2009, at 1:46 AM, Federico Malibago wrote: > The list has been slow of late, and while Im usually a lurker, I > figured Id post if only to get the discussion back going.
