Striking power (Michael Koblic) --__--__-- Message: 1 From: "Michael Koblic" To: Date: Sat, 22 Aug 2009 17:55:29 -0700 Subject: [Eskrima] Striking power Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net "A lot of people talk about generating more power, but the truth is that's only half of the equation. Of equal, if not greater, importance is what you are doing to stop leaking power (or as I call it, pissing it away). " Exactly! Thinking along those lines it actually makes sense to hit with the palm of the hand (or more precisely, heel of the palm) to preserve power - it takes two joints out of the equation. I think we also often neglect the fact that striking power is not the sole province of martial arts: There are people out there who develop power using the same principles as we do and who do so for living. There is much to be learned about power generation (and power leaks!) from golfers, tennis players etc. Michael Koblic Campbell River, BC --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list Eskrima@martialartsresource.net http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima Subscribe or Unsubscribe: http://eskrima-fma.net Old digest issues @ ftp://ftp.martialartsresource.com/pub/eskrima Copyright 1994-2009: Ray Terry, MartialArtsResource.com, Sudlud.com Standard disclaimers apply.
