(Read the proposed rule here. http://www.ilaalerts.org/UM/T.asp?A1.2.5512.9.286323 ) Assisted opening knives are frequently used by hunters, anglers, farmers, ranchers, firefighters, law enforcement and emergency personnel and anyone else who may need to open a knife with only one hand. The proposed regulations would have designated all such knives as "switchblades" -- despite the fact they do not fall under the federal definition of "switchblades" -- and would have made them illegal for import into the United States. Fortunately, in July, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed anamendment to the Federal Switchblade Act as part of the Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2010. This NRA-supported amendment then headed to a House-Senate conference committee. Last week, the U.S. House passed the amendment. We are happy to report that this week, the U. S. Senate passed the measure as well. --__--__-- Message: 3 Date: Sun, 25 Oct 2009 20:41:09 -0700 (PDT) From: jay de leon Subject: Re: [Eskrima] what style we represent To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net okay, we got that one settled--they represent FMA.  and it looks like it is pure stand-up.  just to complete the picture, was this particular tournament "point" with stoppage, continuous "point," ring bout or something else?   thanks again.   jay de leon www.tipunan.com     --- On Sun, 10/25/09, maurice gatdula wrote: From: maurice gatdula Subject: [Eskrima] what style we represent To: "eskrima@martialartsresource.net" Cc: "m.coles1971@gmail.com" Date: Sunday, October 25, 2009, 4:15 PM sori, you know im long winded ha. im using my phone so hope i dont mess it up. anyway my students are doing traditional style with traditional techniques, we dont do mma. so the kuntaw students they are representing fma. btw there was not enough fighters yesterday to seprate the weight classes and levels, so we only let two guys fight. one lost he was a beginner (it was all black belters) and the other got first place. we are using traditional kuntaw technique when we fight. _______________________________________________ Eskrima mailing list, 2,700 members Eskrima@martialartsresource.net Copyright 1994-2009: Ray Terry and Martial Arts Resource Standard disclaimers apply.
