Good luck on your testing. Jung Yul is an enjoyable form! In the spirit of TKD... Mark.Lasich@alcoa.com>>>>>>>> We have been using the rebreakable boards for a few years now. By the way, my break is a backfist, side kick, continous round kick. Joe ------------------------------ From: Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 13:35:10 EDT Subject: the_dojang: physics ques. I have a question about physics that I know several digest members are qualified to answer. I hope that those kindly souls will do so in plain English as I haven't had physics in over 9 years :0) How much force can the average person's head take in one blow? For example, if someone has a good grab on me and I can't seem to break the grab or hold and the situation is intense IF I hit him with a head butt will he be knocked out? Will I be knocked out as well? Also, how is it that people can break several cinderblocks with their head? I've seen people do 2 and pictures of people who did as many as 8 or 9. Thanks, all help will be appreciated. Dawne BTW, I know a physics in M.A. list was established. Its just that I need this info. hopefully by Fri./Sat. for a college paper. ------------------------------ From: "Jamaica Power" Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 11:12:55 PDT Subject: the_dojang: Butterflies/Performance Anxiety and Perry >>>So for me ... Nice to hear from you again and good timing. At the same time your post came through I was reading an article on your exact thoughts. It's called "Performance Anxiey, An Important Part of Sports." What aspect of the kick is "reversed"? <<< "Reverse" applies to the turning motion. E.g., right leg forward, a regular side kick would be right leg chamber and kick. Same stance, a reverse side kick would involve a counter-clockwise turn of the body and left leg chamber and kick, landing in left leg forward stance. In the ATA, there's also a spin kick, which is essentially the same as the reverse kick except that the body continues to rotate and the resulting stance is the same as when beginning (i.e., in the previous cases, right leg forward). So, the flying reverse side kick had the kicker planting the left foot for the jump, turning counter-clockwise, chambering and kicking with the left leg, and landing. Hmmm, this might be one of those "easy to see, hard to use words" deals....fwiw...8?) Paul Rogers, Round Rock, TX ------------------------------ From: "Ld W. Sorry, no real advice here, just the fact that it is not out > of the ordinary! In a speech class I was told that most speakers will take a deep breath, then exhale while holding the podium. The idea was to gather up your tensions and pretend to release them into the inanimate object before starting. At belt tests, I modify this technique only in that I grab the wooden floor with my foot (also helps me practice "rooting"). I find it helps tremendously, although I must do it more than once... > In the spirit of TKD... > Mark.Lasich@alcoa.com > I asked for everything so I could enjoy life.
