His show is a late night-early morning show running from 10 pm to 3 am PDT. Art has been on vacation and has a sub radio personality, but the program is close to the same with the sub. My husband is an avid fan; I listen regularly (not always by choice). Topics range from the paranormal and eerie to Feng Shui to alternate energy sources and beyond. I didn't find any reference to Friday night's show in the website, and another speaker was announced tonight for Friday, perhaps due to Art's vacation. If, however, the digest posting is correct, Master Coleman would be on at 11:00 pm PDT, following an hour of open call-in time. I look forward to hearing Master Coleman's comments, more about the rare aspects of MA than the "Death Touch," when he does appear on the air. It's a great way to give back to the art. Dave>>>>>>>> ======================================== Ditto and then some. It takes you into a completely new dimension of the art. Much like achieving another belt. It takes you also deeper into the art and the understanding of the mechanics, the various personalities and styles of martial artists from around the country and different cities and even schools, and of course the politics. The greatest challenge I feel is to be strong, be aware, maintain your personal integrity amidst the many challenges that are presented to a referee. To be an exceptional referee is a great achievement and honor! Actually if you want to become a great fighter or coach it would bode you well to be become a referee also. The insight into fighting techniques from the "inside out" so to speak gives you a completely different perspective. It's a fascinating adjunct to your martial arts career. I also strongly recommend it for those times when you are on a plateau. It can help you work through the doldrums. jamaica_power@hotmail.com Viva la Muerte! _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. What did you do with them to keep them having tons of fun? ------------------------------ From: "Jamaica Power" Date: Fri, 23 Apr 1999 06:40:30 PDT Subject: the_dojang: The Great Disruption Know how we keeping having an endless discussion about the West vs. East teachings and transformations in the teachings of martial arts? I just read a fascinating article in the Atlantic Monthly (May, 1999) called "The Great Disruption, Human Nature and the Reconstitution of Social Order." It appears that our continuing debate is not an isolated area of discussion in the martial arts area rather a transformation involving a shift into the information age or the Third Wave transistion as described by Alvin Toffler. The good news is that social order, once disrupted tends to get remade. Really great article if you're interested. Gives our internal struggles a much more balanced perspective and deeper meaning and understanding. jamaica_power@hotmail.com _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Guess we all have different definitions of interval training. My concept would be in the practice of sparring techniques; where perhaps you would say do 1 or 2 techniques intensely for about 2 minutes, rest and then do a different 2 techniques for 2 minutes, rest, etc for approximately 10 to 12 techniques. jamaica_power@hotmail.com _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Seems to help with the impact no matter what terrain I am running on. During those times when I couldn't run; something that helped with a lower body work out for me and kept me toned was English horseback riding. Was a nice break from squat thrusts. also :) jamaica_power@hotmail.com _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
