Hey everyone, Thanks for all the great MA humor links! When I have some free time (maybe in January 2001! Hee hee!) I'll put up a page with all the links presented here. Actually, what I plan to do is add some intelligence so that people can add links themselves. Have a nice week! Stan ps: Jamaica, thanks for taking the "challenge". We all benefit from your dilligent web-site hunting. ------------------------------ From: "Darlene" Date: Sun, 2 May 1999 22:00:58 -0700 Subject: the_dojang: Re: martial arts jokes This is a great site: http://www.servtech.com/~arm/mahumor.htm I especially enjoy their "You might be a martial artist if.." and "Top ten reasons for studying the martial arts." I was wondering who is the wisest person in your life that inspired you the most both in m.a. and outside the dojang. And how did they do this? Was it your GM? jamaica@hotmail.com >> 2 years ago I would have said my Mother is the wisest person I know. Now I think my GM is pushing hard for a tie for first place :0) Seriously tho, my GM is Korean so his *wisdom* has a different flavor. He was shaped by different relegious and cultural forces. To me, some Koreans have a *mystical* quality anyway b/c, as in the case of my GM, they are centered and peaceful to the point where you feel it standing next to them. Also, I love to chit chat with my GM especially about his views of the universe, respect and loyalty. A few examples would be helpful, if you can remember them. >> The instructor could always find something good or positive to say about a student. In the childrens classes, he always had everyone clap for that person. (He never left anyone out or showed favoritism.) " Are you allowed to make mistakes? Of course, that's why they put erasers on pencils." So when it came to trying new things, you know you always had his support and the support of all the other students behind you. Needless to stay, he has a very large, successful school. I suspect a great many will view this article with some controversy, esp those in the Daito-Ryu / Aikido camp.
